Lyrical Classes

Lyrical classes focus on portraying the meaning and musicality of songs through movement. Classes combine jazz, ballet, and modern techniques while focusing on self-expression and interpretation. If you have questions about which level you should be in, please contact the office staff to schedule a placement evaluation. 

BEGINNING BALLET/LYRICAL
This ballet/lyrical class is designed for our younger dancers who have completed Combo Class. They will work on beginning ballet technique at the bar and center as well as musicality and movement as they begin to explore improvisation. Proper dress for this class is ballet or jazz shoes, a leotard or other form fitting dancewear and hair securely tied up in a bun or ponytail.

LYRICAL 1 
Lyrical classes focus on portraying the meaning and musicality of songs through movement. Classes combine jazz, ballet, and modern techniques while focusing on self-expression and interpretation. This lyrical class is intended for students with no previous lyrical experience. Proper dress for this class is ballet shoes, a leotard or other formfitting dancewear and hair securely tied up in a bun or ponytail.

LYRICAL 2
This class is intended for students with previous lyrical experience. Benchmark skills for Lyrical 2 are the following: must have a complete understanding of expression and freedom of movement, needles, calypsos, triple turns, leg grabs, all splits, illusions, fouettes in a box. We will be working on stretching, improv, combos, and leaps. Proper dress for this class is ballet shoes (Half Sole recommended), a leotard or other formfitting dancewear and hair securely tied up out of face.
